This open letter was written by Dr. Martin Luther King to eight white clergymen on April 16, 1963 in response to their belief that the the battle against social injustice should be fought in the courts and not in the streets. It contains the often quoted words "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" as well as the words attributed to William Ewart Gladstone "Justice too long delayed is justice denied".
