III. Description of the Artifact and It's Significance

The Lorraine Hotel was one of the only hotels that would accept non-white guests in Memphis, TN. In 1968 Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated outside room 306 here. It is now the site of the National Civil Rights Museum.
